Processing Instructions
1. Do Not Microwave
Flex X is not intended for microwave use.
2. Recommended Heating Equipment
For best results, use a convection pan, Presto Pot with stirrer, Shooting Star system, stainless-steel beaker with hot plate, or other controlled heating vessel.
Presto Pots with stirrers are available at https://www.baitplastics.com/product-page/mixing-melting-point.
3. Measure Material
Place the desired amount of Flex X into your heating vessel.
4. Begin Heating & Mixing
Set the temperature to approximately 400°F. While heating, continuously stir the material until it becomes clear and free of bubbles.
5. Avoid Overheating
If you are not using a mixing/heating pot or pan, begin stirring as soon as the material starts to melt. Continue stirring throughout the heating process to help prevent burning or overheating.
6. Inject & Mold
Flex X works with standard soft-bait injectors and molds.
7. Remelting
Once cooled, Flex X will behave similarly to a traditional soft-plastic lure but will remelt at a much lower temperature. During reheating, temperatures as low as approximately 280°F–300°F may be sufficient.
Important Handling Information
Do not allow Flex X baits to come into contact with traditional plastic lures. The materials are incompatible and may bond together.
For best storage results:
● Allow finished baits to cool and cure completely.
● Lightly coat cooled baits with warm salt oil, if desired, to help prevent sticking and distortion during packaging.
● Store Flex X baits separately from traditional soft-plastic lures.
● Do not leave finished baits in direct sunlight, hot boat compartments, tackle boxes, or other areas exposed to excessive heat.
Flex X can be remelted and reused, allowing you to recycle material and make new lures.
Helpful Tip
For best results when remelting, preheat your injector and molds. Flex X cools more quickly than traditional plastisol.
